Description: This data set contains a series of generalized representation of Morris County municipal boundaries from 1790 – 2020. It was created in 2026 for use in a story map created by the Morris County Office of Planning and Preservation regarding the US Decennial Census by US Census Bureau. Datasets utilized for its creation were from the NJ Compendium of census 1726-1905 by New Jersey State Department and the U.S. Census Bureau. Features were created by reverse engineering the Morris County municipalities GIS layer along with a list of municipalities and their reported population for each decennial census. Boundaries are generalized progressions of municipal boundary creation and do not account for or display small boundary adjustments or parcel swaps.
